GOLD COAST
18th - 26th August 2005

Team Photo of the Yellowbellies taken before the game against the Burleigh Bodgies on the Gold Coast. It took a while to get the boys out of the bar for this photo. They started on the port soon after. One of the opposition players Snuck into the photo, which meant more port for us.

A team photo of our opposition on the Gold Coast the Burleigh Bodgies. The player in the stripped shirt is the referee who did a great job. Our players took along time to get used to the local rules but it was a great game. Thanks for all the port you forced us to drink before the game, a tactic we could do with before every game.

A very hot day at Burleigh, plenty of sun, no shade, and no grass and plenty of grazes and sore shoulders. Thank goodness for the port breaks every 20 minutes.

These next series of photos show the team at its destructive best taking to the opposition full on in the best tradition of the yellowbellies. A very successful boat race won by the boys. First off is OZ bearing all for the opposition to put them off their beer.

Second was Dave showing good drinking form and well in front of the Burleigh boys and Oz in the back giving him plenty of support.

The final act of the boat race, Jack doing a great job and Pete finishing off with his usual gusto and Dave giving good support.

The best part of any game of rugby is finishing of the port after the game. Frits is enjoying this one along with the rest of the guys.

After game drinks and presentations with the Burleigh Bodgies. They were great hosts and we hope to see them next year if they go to Wellington for the Golden Oldies festival.

The after game drinks went well into the night, the travelling band of Lou and Sonny with their guitars entertained everybody for many hours.

The team went for a cultural night out at Dracula’s on the Gold Coast.

. Our second game against the Currumbin Alligators was thankfully played at night.
The Yellowbellies have a tradition of having tin bin games on tour mainly because the opposition pay for all the beer. The hospitality shown to us by the Alligators was great and thanks to the locals who filled in for our injured players.

The tour party had a big last night at Palm Beach on the Gold Coast and it would not be complete without a feed of prawns. Thanks must go to our sheriff Joanne aka “Prawn girl” for collecting all the fines during the week.

Another game another port session it’s a tough life but someone has to do it. Why has Frits got a dirty great smile on his face after every port session. A great night was had by all the boys and thanks to the Alligators for their hospitality

A couple of the locals helped us out against the alligators. Thanks to Tony Harris on the left and Nigel Hargraves on the right. Also thanks to Steve Mazzola a former yellowbellie who did not make the photo.
